New year’s greeting reel 2026.
To celebrate the arrival of 2026, we wanted to make something different, fun, and very much our own, a true VELVET piece. That’s how our New Year’s greeting reel came about, a little creative experiment that ended up becoming a remarkable experience, with no CGI, AI, or post-production.
The idea was simple: transform the headlights of a vintage Mercedes W123 into an unexpected support for our VELVET Cyc5 cyclorama luminaire, a truly unique light in motion.
From there, the fun began. We connected a power inverter directly to the car’s battery, installed a Wi-Fi router, connect the Cycs and, from a tablet, began to control both luminaires (with individual bars), using Luminair, the app. A funky New Year was about to begin 😉

The result?
Driving while controlling the car’s headlights in real time from an iPad, controlling five light engines independently. Probably the first car with real-time control of ten light engines from an iPad… or, at least, one of the most fun.
Beyond the end result, the best part was the process. Testing, adjustments and laughs while shooting it. We had a really good time shaping this idea, and we believe that shows in the result.
This making of, told in these images, shows the behind-the-scenes of a very special greeting. Because starting the year by creating, playing, and enjoying together is, for us, the best way to wish you a unique 2026.
