Brazil’s most cherished children’s series is back on air after 34 years, and the new Mundo da Lua is literally shining under VELVET fixtures. Premiered last June 28th in prime time on TV Cultura, the 24-episode season follows Emília, the imaginative daughter of the original hero Lucas Silva e Silva, introducing her dreams to an entirely new generation while delighting nostalgic fans across the country.

To capture the show’s playful blend of everyday warmth and sci-fi wonder, Director of Photography Hugo Takeuchi and veteran gaffer Toti Cardoso built every set around a flexible VELVET ecosystem.

Soft VELVET Evo and VELVET Light panels wrap the young cast in natural skin-tones, while punchy VELVET Power hard lights add crisp accents that echo the colourful palette of the 1990s classic.

For key studio interiors the team engineered bespoke large SpaceLights by clustering VELVET boards into giant lightweight cubes, achieving seamless overhead ambience with whisper-quiet operation, ideal for long dialogue takes with children.

Full show control runs through a DMX desk control operated by Mateus Gabriel de Asis. All lighting equipment was supplied by Electrica rental company in Sao Paulo.

Mundo da Lua shaped Brazilian childhood in the early ’90s; its 2025 revival is already trending across social media and drawing record Saturday audiences for public television. We are honoured that the production trusted VELVET to translate such a treasured IP into today’s HDR world. Congratulations to Toti, Hugo, Mateus and the Electrica staff for reminding us that, with the proper light, imagination never fades.
