Born in the LED revolution
When VELVET was founded in 2008, LED technology was still in its early days. Yet Javier and Toni, the two founding DPs, saw in it the potential to revolutionize lighting. Long before LED became standard, they were among the first to develop LED luminaires with exceptionally high CRI, capable of delivering natural, film-quality skin tones. Their cinematographic eye guided every decision, from color accuracy to softness to durability.
What began as a DP-led innovation quickly expanded into a complete transformation of lighting for cinema, broadcast, and live production. Their belief was simple: great storytelling deserves great lighting.
